Richelieu Banjos Illustration
Acrylic and Colored Pencil Painting

This Illustration shows design components for Richelieu Banjos which is a small company which designs and creates beautiful banjos of all types.
I chose to create this composition which has a completed banjo in the background and an ornate uncompleted banjo neck in the foreground. Complementary colors of blue/orange and yellow/purple energize the illustration harmoniously.

Artist Trading Card No. 1 Illustration
Water Colour Painting

This abstract painting was originally created as an artist trading card. Very small in size, the image was scanned in high resolution, enlarged, and used as cover artwork for the design and printing of a Madison Area Technical College Foundation Note Card in 2009.
Cielo Cubico Illustration
Water Colour Painting
Vibrant hues of cadmium yellow, burnt sienna and ultramarine blue are painted wet into wet, square by square in this piece. Framed and matted by myself, this painting along with another painting, Cielo Circular, was selected for the 2003 Madison Area Technical College Student Art Show and published in the 2003 Madison Area Technical College Yahara Journal. This image was also used in a note card design.
High Key Abstract Illustration
Acrylic Painting
Geometric forms strong in high key hues are greatly texturized in this acrylic painting on illustration board. This illustration was also painted in dark, solemn, low key colors and has a totally different visual tone. This image was also used in a note card design.
Wade in the Water Illustration
Acrylic Painting
Designed as a CD Cover illustration for deceased singer Eva Cassidy's imaginary Wade in the Water CD, I photographed, composed and painted this young woman wading near the shore of Lake Mendota.

About Illustrations

Shown here are several illustrations which I have enjoyed creating throughout the past few years. These paintings are of both realistic and abstract styles and portray the diversity of my illustration techniques.

I especially enjoy using water colour paints on textured paper experimenting with the fluidity of the media and combining salt resist techniques also for desired effects.

With all the painting experience received from the Madison Area Technical College Illustration and Enrichment Painting Classes, along with the Thursday's Artists plein air painting group, I have many more illustrations available for viewing.

I also will create illustrations for your graphic print designs. For examples of combining painted illustrations within digital applications please view my Print Designs Gallery.
